Oil Painting & Acrylics
For beginners or experienced painters

Basic Drawing

Learn to draw with an emphasis on expressive line, structure, proportion, positive and negative space and perspective, plus one, two and three point perspective, shading to show volume, rendering heads and hands, and drawing on the right side of the brain. Instruction will be suited to each individual. (8 weeks)

Pastels

Fabulous color, rich luminosity and beautiful renderings are all features of working with pastels. Learn how to layer your colors, use warm and cool colors, and light and shadow to create depth and interest. Individualized instruction is given -- beginners as well as experienced students are welcome! Work from a still life or your own photo reference. Supply list available at registration. (6 weeks)

Colored Pencil

This class covers basic tools, supports, tonal applications, pressure, layering and fixatives. A series of classroom exercises will be done to familiarize you with this medium. Bring a set of colored pencils and a white plastic eraser, a kneaded rubber eraser, a 2H pencil and a small pencil sharpener to the first class. Additional supplies will be covered in the first session. (6 weeks)

What color is white? Is it warm, is it cool? This workshop will have you rethinking your color choices for the Queen of Flowers rendered in soft pastels. Instructor will bring in a variety of white flowers, or you can work from your own photo reference. (3 days)

Plein Aire Pastels (Art Camp)

Come join us for an adult summer "art camp" at beautiful Shulak Farm. Bring a lunch, a sun hat, and a camera (just in case it rains, although last summer the weather was perfect).
